Paul Jones has been elected as the new leader of Cannock Chase Council following the annual council meeting on Wednesday 20 May. The Reform Group councillor, who represents Hednesford Green Heath Ward, takes over from Steve Thornley.

As leader, Councillor Jones will oversee Local Government Reorganisation and Regeneration as part of his role.

Cabinet appointments

Councillor Jones has appointed six fellow Reform councillors to his cabinet. Councillor Richard Craddock has been appointed as his deputy leader.

Council composition

The council is now made up of Reform with 14 seats, Labour with 10 seats, Conservatives with eight, the Green Party with three, and one Independent.

Councillor Andrea Muckley from the Green Party was elected as chair of the council.

Working across parties

Councillor Jones said he wants to work with other parties on the council for the benefit of the community.
