Cannock Chase District Council has honoured three former councillors for their long service to the district. Les Bullock, Justin Johnson and Sheila Cartwright have been made honorary Aldermen and Alderwoman in recognition of their combined 45 years on the council.

The decision was made at a special council meeting on Wednesday 20 May, where councillors unanimously agreed to confer the titles. Members noted the trio's significant contributions across various roles and committees during their time in office.

Individual service records

Les Bullock served 16 years across two separate periods starting from 1996, sitting on various council committees throughout his tenure.

Sheila Cartwright also served 16 years, beginning in May 2010. During her time on the council, she chaired the Planning Committee among other positions.

Justin Johnson served 14 years from 2012 and held the role of Cabinet Member for Environment and Climate Change.

Recognition and next steps

Certificates of recognition will be presented to all three at a full council meeting in July.
